Where do I go? What do I do? -- these are common questions that we as young adults ask ourselves. Such questions can be overwhelming when every opportunity around you seems to withhold itself. College tuition is a mountain. Unemployment has become this year's fad. Struggle. Bustle. Failure.
In the words of Dr. Sherman Flakes, "Indeed, our society has done a number on us"-- for the American dream, to many, is no more than a nightmare. What happened to being rewarded for your hard work? What happened to advancing yourself? Times have changed.
We can no longer rely on our ingenuity, nor our wits to get ahead. Doesn't matter if you're a college graduate or a factory worker-- one's self is insufficient.
Do not find it strange that transitioning will be a difficult. Truthfully, everyone has to struggle. However, one must be certain that his or her struggle is not in vain.
Failure doesn't have to define you-- Let God define you. I'm reminded of one young man named Joshua who God helped transition an entire nation from landless wandering into the promised land. If God can do it for Joshua, He can do it for you. Here is the promise that God made to Joshua.
Be strong and courageous; for you shall put this people into possession of the land that I swore to their ancestors to give them. (Joshua 1:6)-- Realize that God has a purpose for you, and let that be your confidence. God wants to use you to advance his people.
Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to act in accordance with all the laws that my servant Moses commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, so that you may be successful wherever you go (Joshua 1:7). -- Do it God's way, not your way.
This book of law shall not depart out of your mouth, you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your ways prosperous, and then you shall be successful.(Joshua 1:8) --Learn what the will of God is in your life-- read your Bible and pray.
I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). -- God is with you, expect success.
In closing, God wants you to be a success-- according to His will in your life. God is not effected by odds nor is He concerned about statistics-- God's purpose will come to fruition, regardless. All you have to do is "Be Strong and very courageous" as you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
God Bless You,
--Tre Michael
