From a hostile household
You hid your face.
Like an estranged spouse
We put You away.
Out of hearts,
Out of our minds--
We shut the windows
And closed the blinds.
So that no light may enter
And no one can see
The divided household
within me.
Each room is furnished,
trimmed from floor to ceiling
And guests come and go
Like scenes as the movie is reeling
In my home theater
Where they are entertained
But only for a moment
Alone I remain.
There's no life in the living room
No rest in the bed
No comfort from my pillow
where I set my head.
No warmth from the stove
No food in the kitchen
No love in the home
For You are missing.
