It seems to be a perpetual cycle--faith, fear, faith and then fear. Who can escape such a treacherous turntable? I've had those experiences with God where I'm totally engulfed in His presence and everything is at peace. I've also experienced those dry spells-- the ones in which His presence seems to elude me as I desperately reach for the hem of his garment. Which ever the case, I've come to realize that in all things, we must understand that Jesus has ultimate control. When devastation seems to have drawn your number, you must be sure of your faith in Jesus Christ. It is essential. It is necessary. When Jesus foretold Peter's denial, He prayed for His disciple.
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not (Luke 22:31-32).
Likewise, I believe God is praying that our faith fail not. He knows that without faith in Him, one is susceptible to the will of the Enemy. Therefore, we must pray unto God as David, "Deliver me not over unto the will of my enemies" (Psalm 27:12). We must believe in our hearts that "though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear" (Psalm 27:3). One must realize that fear is far too expensive-- that it leads to failure.
As of late, my faith is being tried. The devil has attacked me in many areas of my life. However, my knuckles turn white, as it were, as I clinch unto the promises of God--I must hold on. There is no other option but failure. Even in writing this entry, the devil is busy. Truthfully, this is perhaps the most difficult entry I've ever written. Distractions have caused the most persistent of writer's block, yet I write. I write because I believe there is a blessing behind this blog post. At any rate, let us be diligent in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In closing, cast fear far from your heart. No more fear, only faith.
